About Chef on Wheels
Chanan is a professionally trained chef who gained his experience in several renowned restaurants in and around Amsterdam. In 2009 he became self-employed and moved into high-end corporate catering, which he still enjoys doing on a freelance basis.
Alongside this, he took on more and more catering work of his own. What started out as Callme2cook grew, particularly in the years after Covid, into an increasingly important part of the business: Chef on Wheels.
That combination suits Chanan well. One day he's working in a professional kitchen, the next he's catering a wedding, a company party or a dinner at a client's venue. It's that variety that keeps the work so enjoyable for him.

Cooking the way you want it
Chanan doesn't work from one fixed concept. He listens to what a client has in mind and then works out how to make it happen, whether it's a lunch or drinks reception, an elaborate dinner or a big party.
He's versatile, flexible and a perfectionist in his work. Even when a lot is happening at once, he stays calm and keeps everything under control. Good food comes first, but hospitality matters just as much. In the end, it's not only the food that has to be right, but everything around it.
A family business with a regular team
Chanan is the owner and the face of Chef on Wheels, and your point of contact from the first conversation to the last dish. Behind the scenes it's very much a family business: you may well meet other members of the family at your event, and both children regularly work in service.
Chanan also works with a regular team of kitchen and service staff: people who know how we work and what the day requires.
Even the logo has a family story. Chanan's son Orry designed it when he was fourteen, and we still use it today.
Many of our staff also start young at Chef on Wheels. Teenagers and young adults get the chance to gain work experience with Chanan and learn the trade in practice. They learn to work hard, take responsibility and see what it takes to make an event run smoothly. And however busy it gets, there's always time for a smile for our guests.
Kosher from the start
Our kosher kitchen isn't something we added later: it has been the foundation of Chef on Wheels from the very beginning. Coming from a Jewish background, we know the Jewish dietary laws well and consistently work according to kosher principles.
We do this for every event, including when we cook for non-Jewish clients, so our kitchen always remains kosher.
We do not operate under rabbinical supervision. If rabbinical supervision is required for your event, or you have specific requirements regarding kashrut, we're happy to discuss what may be possible.
More about our kosher kitchenMostly close to home, sometimes further afield
Most of our events take place in Amsterdam, Amstelveen and the surrounding area, but we're happy to travel further for the right occasion. We've catered events all over the Netherlands, and have even crossed the border for an event in Denmark.
Wherever we go, we look at the venue beforehand and at what we'll need to work well there. That's how we're able to cater in so many different places.

Bedrijfs BBQMore about us
